Tim Shickles, Director

Did you know that Michigan's largest planetarium, with all the most advanced technology, is located right here in Flint? Longway Planetarium is where people of all ages are discovering space and science, and they're having a whole lot of fun doing it!

If you're curious about the world around you, even if science was never your "thing", Longway is the place for you. Watch a sky show about Mars, Saturn or the Moon, learn how to use a telescope or chill out with tunes and laser lights. Build and launch a rocket, encounter the microscopic world, discover why the Earth has seasons or solve a mystery. You'll experience real science and astronomy that's really fun – and sometimes really funny – and real people can do it. People just like you.

Faces of future scientists may be among Longway's Girls in Science students. These girls are given examples of "science at work" by members of the community in science-related fields who volunteer their time to teach and mentor, helping the students stay excited about science at an age when many lose interest.
